Hello!
It feels like just yesterday we were unpacking the first shipment of boxes and chatting with so many of you during our Grand Opening. And here we are, just over three months into this adventure, and the summer buzz is starting to fill the store. Now we have some exciting news: we’re ready to start adding more friendly faces to the Dandelion Bookshop team!
Expanding our team
We're looking for book lovers to join us as we work to support a vibrant literary community in Oak Park. If the thought of spending your days among green shelves full of stories while helping fellow readers discover their next favorite book delights you, then this might just be the perfect opportunity!
We have two open positions to fill: Summer Associate (part-time, summer only) and Staff Bookseller (part-time, ongoing basis). Check out our jobs page for more information.
Oh, and, if you’re interested in volunteering for story time reading during the summer, please email us at hello@dandelionbookshop.com – we’re looking for a few more folks to help us provide a regularly scheduled reading event for little ones.
Preorder preview
There are many new books headed our way this summer and a few of these June titles caught my eye. If you haven’t checked out the full list, you can see everything we’re planning to carry on our preorder page. But also, if you don’t see a title you want, just let us know! We can reserve a copy for you and add it to the list. If you want to read it, there’s probably a neighbor who wants to read it too!
Shroud: I’m a fan of Adrian Tchaikovsky's other books — especially Children of Time — and am really looking forward to diving into this survival story on a nightmarishly alien and hostile world. Shroud arrives June 3.
King of Ashes: S.A. Cosby’s newest work follows a man who returns home to find his family drowning in debt, crime swirling around their business (a crematorium!), and danger at every turn. Few authors expose the emotional richness of characters like Cosby. King of Ashes arrives June 10.
Trials of the Jedi: It’s Star Wars…with lots of Jedi. While the Age of Rebellion is my preferred setting, the High Republic is not far behind. I’ve enjoyed most of the adult novels and am curious to see how this grand series concludes. Trials of the Jedi arrives June 17. (Also, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by where to start with High Republic stories, I recommend Light of the Jedi.)
Thank you
That’s all for now. Happy reading!
